The Foundation will be providing support to the development of higher education, working in partnership with others to build the kind of capacity that enables young people in Myanmar to fulfil Daw Suu’s hopes for them.
What is that vision? These are her words: “The future is in our hands to shape as we wish it to be. And I would like our young people to have the right equipment, the right intellectual, mental and spiritual equipment to shape the country that they want to live in.”
Intellectual equipment in Myanmar’s universities means working with academics to develop the laboratories, libraries, curricula and teaching methods that will help to transform the environment in which young people learn the skills so vital for the development of a democratic and productive society.
